Travel information: How to get to Magdeburg

Magdeburg is located in North-Eastern Germany between Hannover and Berlin. By train it takes two hours to reach Berlin and 1,5 hours to get to Hannover. To the airport Halle/Leipzig you need 1,5 by train.

The central station of Magdeburg is Magdeburg Hauptbahnhof (Magdeburg Hbf). The next airports are in Hannover, Halle/Leipzig and the airports in Berlin. The train connection between these cities and Magdeburg are very good.

By train:

Central Station = Magdeburg Hauptbahnhof (Hbf)

By airplane:

In general our guests arrive at the airport Berlin-Tegel. From there you take the Bus x9 to the station Berlin-Zoologischer Garten (Zoo). The trip takes about 20 minutes, the busses pass frequently.

From the Zoo-Station there is a train to Magdeburg at least every hour. The Regionalexpress (RE 1) in direction of Magdeburg takes about two hours to Magdeburg. A one way ticket costs about 20 Euro. Faster trains are more expensive.

At the airport Hannover, you need to take the S-Bahn (follow the signs "S" and "DB") which is indicated to the Central Station. There are frequently trains to Magdeburg.

The airport Leipzig/Halle has its own train station. You can directly descend from the airport to the station and take the next train to Magdeburg. Trains pass frequently.

    A2: Hannover-Berlin (Berliner Ring - Oberhausen)
    A14: Magdeburg-Halle/Leipzig-Dresden (Magdeburg - Nossen)

Description of the way from Central Station to the Medical Campus:

From the station you will have to take the tram 3 in the direction Leipziger Chaussee. The stop where you have to get out is "Universitätsklinikum".

It is better to buy your ticket in the ticket office or machines. If you buy them from the driver in the tram, they are more expensive.

 

Description of the way from Universitätsplatz to the Medical Campus:

At Universitätsplatz you will have to take tram 9 direction Leipziger Chaussee. You get out at "Universitätsklinikum".
