Health Care Professions Training Center Sends Off Its Graduates
Magdeburg University Medical Center Honors Its Trainees’ Successful Graduation at a Festive Ceremony
By successfully passing their state final exams, 62 graduates from the 2023 training cohort at the Training Center for Healthcare Professions (AZG) of Magdeburg University Medical Center have reached an important milestone. Now, highly qualified and motivated, they are embarking on their professional careers.
During a festive graduation ceremony on July 3, 2026, the graduates received their diplomas and certificates. The ceremony took place in the new lecture hall in Building 7 on the Magdeburg University Medical Center campus and provided a fitting setting for this special occasion.
Jan Heise, a young saxophonist from Magdeburg, provided the musical accompaniment. A varied program featuring personal greetings and moving remarks from trainees, instructors, and the school administration made the event a festive and emotional conclusion to their time together in training.
Stephanie Günther, Director of the AZG, said: “You can all be incredibly proud of this year’s results—each of you gave it your all!”
Johanna Loer, deputy principal of the nursing school division, added: “This year, for the first time, all trainees at the Training Center for Healthcare Professions successfully passed their final exams—no one failed. This is an extraordinary achievement of which we are all very proud.”

The entire AZG team, including the homeroom teachers and the teaching staff, warmly congratulated the graduates on their successful completion of the program. It is particularly gratifying that the trainees in the fields of Medical Technologists for Laboratory Analytics, Medical Technologists for Radiology, and Anesthesia Technicians (ATA) have successfully completed their training in accordance with the latest legal regulations. The OTA training program was already completed for the first time last year under the new law.
All trainees in the nursing and ATA programs passed their final exams. Special mention goes to 19 trainees who completed their training with outstanding results. One graduate achieved the top grade of 1.0.
On August 1 of this year, these young people will begin their professional careers. They will then put the professional skills they have acquired to the test. Christine Michelfeit-Schaper, Director of Nursing at Magdeburg University Medical Center, said: “I warmly congratulate our graduates on successfully completing their training. With their dedication, they have laid an important foundation for their professional future, and well-trained specialists are of great importance to UMMD. For their future professional and personal journeys, I wish them all much success, joy in their work, and a constant willingness to continue developing.”
The next training cohort will begin on September 1. Starting in 2027, the training center will expand its offerings to include training in orthoptics, making it the first training provider in Saxony-Anhalt to do so.
