11.11.2025 -

The kick-off meeting for Career Days 2025 at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg marked the start of an exciting series of events. Over the coming months, the focus will be on topics such as career development, diversity, and successful applications, with workshops, lectures, and plenty of opportunities for discussion.

Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Daniela C. Dieterich, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Dr. med. Dr. rer. nat. Anne Albrecht, Vice Dean for Young Talent Development and Equal Opportunities, welcomed the participants at the start of the event. In her welcoming address, Prof. Albrecht emphasized the importance of targeted support and visibility for young researchers on their individual career paths.

A particular highlight was the keynote speech by Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Ute Seeland, Professor of Gender-Sensitive Medicine and Head of the University Outpatient Clinic for Gender and Gender-Specific Medicine and Prevention. As president of the German Society for Gender-Sensitive Medicine (DGesGM), she shared inspiring insights into the opportunities and challenges of scientific careers – with a clear focus on equality and diversity.

Openly and practically, they provided valuable insights for young scientists. Katalin Varga, the MeCoSa project coordinator, led the program.

The kick-off meeting marks the start of a series of events offering workshops on topics such as diversity, grant writing, and career planning in the coming months. The aim is to encourage young scientists to follow their own path—with knowledge, exchange, and inspiration.
