Magdeburg Center for Cell and Immunotherapies (MAZI)

From Scientific Innovation to Modern Patient Care

The Magdeburg Center for Cell and Immunotherapies (MAZI) brings together the expertise of University Medicine Magdeburg in cell therapy, immunotherapy, gene therapy and translational medicine. As an interdisciplinary platform, MAZI connects research, clinical expertise, education, technology and strong partnerships to enable innovative therapeutic approaches to be transferred from research into clinical practice more rapidly, safely and systematically.

Its aim is to advance modern cell and immunotherapies for patients with serious diseases, such as cancer and autoimmune disorders, while facilitating access to university-based medical care close to home in Saxony-Anhalt and beyond.

MAZI supports the entire translational pathway—from the initial biological concept and quality assurance to GMP-related manufacturing processes, clinical trials and the implementation of new cell and immunotherapies in clinical practice.

In doing so, the center combines scientific expertise and clinical experience with regional, national and international partnerships.

This creates a high-performing innovation ecosystem in Magdeburg that efficiently translates new scientific findings into clinical care and makes innovative therapies available to patients more rapidly.
