From the dream of having a child to the arrival of a long-awaited child: A long journey with a happy ending
he desire to have a child of their own is something many couples have felt for years. For a couple from the region, this journey led them to the fertility clinic at the University Clinic for Gynecology, Obstetrics, and Reproductive Medicine in Magdeburg in late 2023.
After more than two years of trying unsuccessfully to conceive, the couple decided to seek medical assistance. As part of the treatment, two IVF (in vitro fertilization) cycles were performed. The first cycle initially resulted in a pregnancy, which unfortunately ended in an early miscarriage.
Despite this setback, the prospective parents decided to continue on their journey. In the second treatment cycle, a successful cryo-embryo transfer was performed in October 2025. Shortly thereafter, a positive pregnancy test brought the long-awaited news.
The subsequent pregnancy proceeded largely without complications. On May 20, 2026, the moment finally arrived: at 7:55 a.m., Aron was born via cesarean section. Weighing 4,240 grams at birth and measuring 55 centimeters, he made the family’s happiness complete.
This story shows that the path to having a child is not always straightforward. It is also an example of how modern reproductive medicine, medical support, and personal perseverance can help make the dream of starting a family a reality.
